smooth & dreamy

not having the best day today...
had to lecture about neurotransmitters,
and i shouldn't have worn my gold pumps today (ouch).
other things keep messing up my day,

so....

i listened to this...

(she's swedish & japanese...do you know how amazing that is to me?
super amazing! 2 of my most favorite countries in all the world combined)

and had one of these...

and i must say, i'm feeling much better now.
back to work!

this guy.

photo taken with my iphone.

we planned on getting so much done all day today.
but instead, we goofed off!
went to the beach,
brought surfboards,
but no waves to surf,
hung out with our friend,
and ben & emily and their kids,
tanned,
made sand castles,
watched baby hank eat sand,
swam in the pool,
ate bbq chicken & sweet potato fries for dinner,
and played a lot of word warp.
we also did a lot of singing along to music in the car together.

i have too much fun with this guy!

ruby's

my friend cindee came over last night and we decided to go eat at ruby's.
after ruby's we were supposed to go to will's brother ben's house to babysit their kids.
we walk into ruby's and who do we see straight ahead of us?
ben, emily and the kids!
they are the cutest family ever.
we also saw some friends from church!
so we squeezed into a tiny booth so we could sit next to them.
it was a really fun dinner.
ruby's hadn't been that fun since i was a kid!

look at these cute pictures from cindee's phone:

oreo fantasy milkshake
the perfect mix of vanilla (will's fave) and chocolate (my fave)

double dark chocolate milkshake
it was divine!
it "made me feel like a woman"

the fun continued when will and i babysat the kids.
we had a dance party for about 20 minutes,
tuckered them out real good,
then put them to bed.

DIY VINTAGE-INSPIRED BUTTON EARRINGS TUTORIAL.

over the past few months,
i have been making fun little vintage-inspired earrings.

i used to only wear big earrings,
because i always have my hair covering my ears.
lately i have been wearing little tiny ones,
even though no one can see them.

here are a few of the earrings i've made.

it is such a quick little craft.
all you need is earring backs,
wire cutters,
and a glue gun or jewelry glue.
you can use buttons, beads, make
fabric flowers, or use any cute trinkets.
i've also been making rings the same way,
but i just haven't loved them as much as the earrings.

MATERIALS:

1) vintage or vintage-inspired buttons

2) earring backs

3) wire cutters or jewelry cutters

4) glue gun or jewelry glue

INSTRUCTIONS:

1) use the wire cutters to cut off the backs of buttons, if necessary.
buttons without holes have loops in the back instead.
you need to remove the loops.
if they are metal loops and can't be cut, bummer.

2) secure buttons to earring backs using glue gun or jewelry glue.

3) um...you are done. try them on!

comic con wrap up!

will and i, our friends matt & niki, and kelly & jason went to
comic con this year in san diego. it was a lot of fun! we saw famous people,
cool art, movie previews, tv sneak peeks, and LOTS of costumed nerds.
we also took time to hang out in old town, go to the beach, and eat out
for every meal (we all gained a few pounds each).

so it was a month ago but here are some of the highlights:
(disclaimer: i thought it'd be so much easier to only bring
my rebel camera, the kit lens, use the on-camera flash,
and shoot on automatic. i will never do that again.
if i give up that much control i will never be happy with the results.)

we got to see extended trailers of awesome new movies coming out.
it was very cool to be in the presence of awesome people like will ferrell and rainn wilson.
i don't really care about celebrities but these two actually excited me.

ellen page, liv tyler.

rainn wilson was the best!!! i love him.
will ferrell had the whole room laughing uncontrollably!
old town san diego.
nerds.
ouch.
check out ll cool j's guns.
these two were dead on for that movie enchanted!
how nerdy is that...check your light sabers, wooden swords, and ghostbuster guns here.
the tradeshow was packed.
this guy was 6'9". i am 5'2". fun.

there was a ton of cool art being displayed and sold.
i had to buy this sweet robot picture. i LOVE ROBOTS!
nice fanny pack spiderman.
we went to the yo gabba gabba panel of course.
yo gabba gabba (matt & jason, directors) got us in to comic con.
jason got to speak in the ygg panel.
sadly, the panel pictures from my sucky camera/sucky lens were poop.
some kid from twilight. i thought my little sis would appreciate this picture :)
good ol r2d2. this smile was the kind you have when the person trying to take the
picture is having camera problems, and you keep smiling for like 2 minutes
straight, and everyone else is waiting to get their picture in that spot,
and staring at you....and you're over it.
it was fun!!!
