i love this.

i want to try the cashews flavored with chili and lime. also we're a bit concerned because we found out the chili spiced mangos might be discontinued. :(

green cookies?

how much do these cookies look like LITTLE GREEN MONSTERS?

i'll admit, i was tempted to stick googly eyes on them.

no i was not practicing for st. patrick's day. 

i was just trying to use up my avocado and buttermilk. 

these treats actually turned out sweet and tasty.

the very simple recipe is here. 

except i changed it up a little by getting ideas from other recipes. 

i thickened it to make a dozen cookies,

 and then added more buttermilk to the leftover dough make a mini loaf pan.

jill asked for the recipe for the chicken spinach lasagna with white sauce. 

i ended up combining ideas from 2 different recipes, found here and here.

sewing party

i took a sewing class in 7th grade and we made patchwork pillows. i also took needlecraft in jr high - it was the only "F" i've ever gotten. i didn't finish the needlecraft and i didn't care.

i had some girls over on saturday night. heather, shawni, lynsey, and ashley made it over. we cooked a recipe i had devised in my head but of course it already existed. white sauce lasagna with chicken and spinach. it was great and really cheesy. for dessert we made homemade mint ice cream with grasshopper cookies. we also ate lots of junk food. and we watched one of my favorite movies, the baxter.

we made little scripture bags from placemats and ribbon. really simple and cute. it was lynsey's first time sewing! and hers turned out so great! i learned how to make this bag at enrichment when i first moved into my new ward. it was intimidating because i didn't know a single person there but i am glad i went. i made a bag for jenessa when she left for australia and the girls wanted to make some too.

whoever brought the purple ribbon over, you left it here. also, no thanks to lynsey for leaving her giant bag of peanut m&m's over here for me to eat them all!

now i have 13 nieces and nephews and another joining us in about a month! i'm so lucky!

this is a photo of my little baby brother, davin. he is now 7 years old. i probably took this photograph 5-6 years ago. he came to us as a little 3-month old foster baby. his stay kept getting extended. when he needed to be adopted it wasn't even a question. we kept him. my parents had to do a little fighting with social services since they are a little older now but it all worked out. remember, this is bartlett baby #10. anyway davin is the best. he always waits at the door when i visit. he is not too old to give me hugs and kisses upon request. he is a killer baseball player too! here a more recent photo of the little guy.
