i have been shopping for christmas decorations all month and NOT finding anything i like.
it's all so...RED and GREEN...and i wanted to change it up.
my friend nicole and i decided to make some of our own decorations.
i snapped a few quick shots of my little set to share.
here's how we did it...
SNOWMAN MATERIALS:
1) 3 small square christmas gift boxes for the body
2) yarn, ribbon, trim, or ric rac
(make sure you have some white or off-white yarn)
3) felt & fabric scraps
4) an extra christmas light
(orange, or just paint it orange)
5) buttons and/or beads
6) brown floral wire
7) glue gun
8) fabric scissors
SNOWMAN INSTRUCTIONS:
1) glue your gift boxes together, staggered.
2) wrap them in white or off-white yarn,
using dots of hot glue here and there.
3) glue on beads or buttons for eyes
4) glue on an orange christmas light for the nose.
i didn't have an orange light so i painted mine.
5) glue some buttons or beads on the snowman's chest.
6) create a scarf and glue it on.
i wrapped yarn around the neck,
added strips of felt with yarn pom-pom ends,
and added a fabric bow on top.
7) using wire cutters or good scissors,
trim some floral wire,
and twist it to create hands and arms.
use glue gun if you need to secure the "fingers".
CHRISTMAS TREE MATERIALS:
1) cardboard or styrofoam cones from the craft store
2) yarn, ribbon, trim, or ric rac

today has REALLY felt like the beginning of christmas for me.
i gave a final exam, went to the psych department holiday party
(everyone gobbled the red velvet white chocolate chip cookies i made last night),
graded the exams and worked on final grades for my awesome students,
drove home in the rain, and wrapped christmas gifts.
now i just need to get dolled up so will and i can go to my company work party :)
and in the next 3 days we have 4 parties to go to also...
what a fun weekend!!!
next week i will finish up my christmas shopping
and get ALL the gifts under the tree!

So well done. You two are a coupla geniuses.
